In addition, professionals interested in learning about the 10-module resilience intervention I co-developed with Dr. Hartley, Associate Professor at University of Arizona, or the 7 module forgiveness intervention, are encouraged to consider and explore the online self-study course entitled, “Resilience, Forgiveness and Disability: Interventions to Promote Positive Coping in Persons with Disabilities.” Professionals who complete this self-study course earn 13.0 CE hours.
Susan Stuntzner PhD, LPC, LMHP, CRC, NCC, BC-TMH has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 6852. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Susan Stuntzner PhD, LPC, LMHP, CRC, NCC, BC-TMH is solely responsible for all aspects of the program.
Professionals who partake and complete the aforementioned course (i.e, “Resilience, Forgiveness, and Disability: Interventions to Promote Positive Coping in Persons with Disabilities) will have a chance to review the modules of both the resilience and the forgiveness interventions and answer questions based on the modules. Participants who complete the full training will also receive a copy of both manuals (i.e., Stuntzner & Hartley’s Life Enhancement Intervention: Developing Resilience Skills Following Disability; Stuntzner’s Forgiveness Intervention: Learning to Forgive Yourself and Others) to use as a part of their practice. The course in its entirety is worth 13 CE hours. The fee for each contact hour is $25.00. Total cost for the course is $325.00./>
This training is a self-study program comprised of 13 CE hours. As a part of this course, professionals are asked to complete the two interventions listed below along with questions checking for content mastery. The two interventions that comprise this course include:
Stuntzner & Hartley’s Life Enhancement Intervention is a resilience intervention for persons with disabilities. Counseling and allied helping professionals who complete this intervention / training are afforded the opportunity to learn about resilience and resilience-based skills and exercises people can use to cultivate resilience.
Stuntzner’s Forgiveness Intervention is a forgiveness intervention designed for persons with disabilities. Content and exercises that comprise the intervention are geared towards the needs and experiences of people living with a disability. Throughout, professionals will learn more about forgiveness and strategies they can use to help people forgive.
Both interventions are included as a part of the self-study since both resilience and forgiveness are strong components of learning to move past a difficult life event and improve overall coping and adjustment. People wanting additional information about this course or these interventions are encouraged to contact me directly.
Participants are encouraged to finish the online course within a 90-day period, approximately one training module per week. Following enrollment and payment for the course, professionals will be given passwords they can use to access the intervention course modules. Within each module is a link identified as CE Questions. Participants can access the module questions and answers and email me their answers (i.e. susan.stuntzner@yahoo.com). Module quizes will be graded and people will be notified if they need to correct answers for content mastery. As the ACEP coordinator, I will keep track of people’s progress for each module and intervention. Once a quiz is finished and graded, participants will be notified that they can move onto the next module and will be given the next code to access the following module. Such a procedure will be followed until the interventions are completed. It is recommended that people first start with the resilience intervention then proceed onto the forgiveness portion of the training.
Professionals who complete the full course will be emailed or mailed (per their choice) the course evaluation. Participants are asked to complete this within two weeks and to return it to Dr. Stuntzner via email (susan.stuntzner@yahoo.com) or mail. After I receive the evaluation form, a CE Certificate will be sent to participants.

Stuntzner and Hartley’s Life Enhancement Intervention: Developing Resiliency Skills Following Disability (2015) is a 10 – Module intervention developed to teach persons with disabilities information and skills related to resiliency and disability. The skills taught have been well-documented as those that are related to resiliency and to coping well with a disability. The skills covered do not represent all of those that may help people become more resilient, but they were carefully selected due to their duo-relationship with resiliency and adaptation to disability.
Each module is delivered in a designated sequence so that people may first learn about resiliency and its relationship to disability. Modules 2 through 5 build from this foundation and teach people about the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Modules 6 through 9 are typically more abstract than the first five; therefore, a solid foundation in understanding the relationship between one’s own thoughts, feelings, and behaviours may be helpful before launching into the latter skills. The intervention concludes with an opportunity to review, assess, and fully integrate skills learned throughout.
The intervention was developed so that it could be delivered to groups, but professionals are encouraged to decide if and when the information may be used on an individual basis as well. Since resiliency is an individualized process in that different skills may resonate with people, it is more important for professionals to consider those that are most relevant to the people they counsel.
Each module consists of targeted goals, educational and experiential activities, opportunities for reflection, and additional work to be completed on one’s own time. However, the intervention has overarching goals and these provide people with an opportunity to (Stuntzner, 2015, p. 7):

Stuntzner’s Forgiveness Intervention: Learning to Forgive Yourself and Others (2015) is a 7 – Module intervention designed to teach persons with disabilities information and skills pertaining to forgiveness. Each module is logistically sequenced to build on the previous one. The intervention was intended to be delivered according to a group format; however, professionals may decide to use it in more of an individualistic manner or to have people complete specific components or exercises as is most applicable to the reported situation or issue. Throughout the intervention, each module contains goals and activities for people to complete; however, the overarching goals as outlined in the intervention are to (Stuntzner, 2015, p. 12):
